Empower Your Body: A Natural Approach to Endometriosis Relief
Hello,
March is Endometriosis Awareness Month in the UK which is a great opportunity to raise awareness, especially as1 in 10 women suffering with this painful condition and the average time for a diagnosis is 8 years. Endometriosis is complex, and every journey is unique.
The conventional route includes surgery which can be effective but not without it’s challenges which is why I advise clients to check that their surgeon is an endo specialist, for the best outcome.
There is also now a wealth of research and information on ways to support from a more holistic perspective. A way to relieve symptoms and address the root cause… for a longer term solution. This can be used alone or in combination with medical treatments.
What is Endo?
Endometriosis involves tissue, similar to the womb lining, growing outside the uterus, causing:
- Chronic pelvic pain (often worse during periods)
- Pain during or after sex
- Heavy or irregular periods
- Fatigue and low energy
- Digestive issues (bloating, diarrhoea, or constipation, often called “endo belly”)
- Painful bowel movements or urination (especially during menstruation)
- Difficulty conceiving
- And longer term it can lead to depression, anxiety, infertility, increased risk of autoimmune conditions and overall reduced quality of life.
What Support Is Available?
Conventional- hormonal treatments, pain relief, and surgery.
Natural- looks deeper, addressing root causes such as inflammation, microbiome imbalances, immune dysfunction, and hormonal dysregulation.
This is where I can come in and help support your body naturally, either working alongside your medical team or instead of.
Diet & Lifestyle Tips To Support:
1. Support the Microbiome & Immune System
Our gut microbiome plays a vital role in oestrogen metabolism and immune regulation which plays a huge role in endo lesion development. Endotoxins, toxins released from harmful gut bacteria, can trigger an immune response that exacerbates inflammation. Research suggests that these endotoxins contribute to the formation of endometriosis lesions by stimulating the immune system to respond abnormally, increasing pain and furthering disease progression.
In Clinic we run comprehensive stool tests to help identify bacterial imbalances so we can target our support where its needed, be it specific pre and probiotic-rich foods, supplements and herbal remedies, to rebalance and reduce the inflammation linked to endo
